City Council Study Session
The City Council will hold a study session on April 26, 2023, at 4:00 PM to hear from a property owner who is proposing a residential project located at 5601, 5655, and 5701 Lindero Canyon Road (across from Valley Oaks Memorial Park and Costco). The project site is shown in the image above.
The public is invited to attend the study session to learn more about the proposed project. The study session is for informational purposes only. The City Council will not be making any decisions about the project at the study session.
Proposed Project
In 2020, the Westlake Village City Council adopted the North Business Park Specific Plan in order to revitalize an aging portion of the City and to comply with state laws requiring cities to accommodate new housing to meet regional needs. The Plan specifically identifies properties along Lindero Canyon Road and Corsa Avenue as suitable sites for housing to demonstrate that the City can accommodate its share of regional housing needs as required by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
The property owner intends to exercise rights granted by the state’s housing Density Bonus Law, which requires cities to allow a developer to build more units and taller buildings than would otherwise be allowed in exchange for some of the proposed units being restricted for rent to lower-income households. The proposed project is expected to consist of 693 rental units, of which (only) 70 are expected to be restricted for rent to lower-income households.
The property owner submitted an information package that includes additional information about the proposed project and images showing the proposed design of the project; and submitted an expanded information package for the City Council study session.
