Who is Ray Pearl?

Ray Pearl is part of the Westlake Village City Council and at this the Mayor.

What is known and not well-known is that he has been involved in the back end of the planning of the Lindero Project.

Our job, on this website, is to simply and plainly show and/or state facts and hope you come to the same conclusion which is that he needs to recuse himself from involvement from now going forward. We need to present this information to city hall as a united front and that a good part of the citizens of Westlake Village are not “onboard” with the Lindero project.

There “may be” some personal business relationship between Mr. Pearl & the developer which we will be investigating and hope to bring information to light.

We feel that Mr. Pearls position on the California Housing Consortium (CHC) IS a direct CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

We feel/believe that he is serving the CHC first and Westlake Village second or last. We are his special project and maybe a future template on how to “break” a city down to comply with overbuilding to meet the minimum requirement required for low-income housing. Why he feels overbuilding is “okay” or maybe a “punishment” to cities who are late to comply is in question.

Again, we are only required to build 70 low-income housing units, which the city can easily manage — but NOT 693 units. There is money going into someone’s proverbial personal pocket and cashing in on the “bonus of overbuilding with little to no regard to height”.  The city doesn’t need to exchange the right to construct these overbearing buildings for money. But thanks to Ray Pearl, we might have to spend city money to pursue legal actions to block this development. A bad move on the part of any Mayor.

Mr. Pearl through his social media comments is appealing to people’s hearts, but behind the move to help others, which this city is in agreement with, he “cashing” in on people’s emotions and selling out to developers who already have plenty of money and are looking to use those emotions as the “Trojan Horse” to bring in the destruction of our village morphing us into a compact high density living and building situation.

We feel he started out as a positive force in our community and now has lost his way teaming up with the CHC and deep pocket developers.

Go to page 33 to read the part of the meeting Mr. Pearl is involved. It sounds wonderful and heroic and is wonderful that housing for the homeless & Black/Indigenous/People of Color – but he wants to fulfill our requirement – then let the developer, to their hearts content, build over 600 additional buildings to, bottom line “MAKE MONEY”. We see this as using a heartfelt gesture for something devious. We cannot state enough that we are willing to fulfill our requirements for low-income housing. But to sell the soul of the city out to developers is a wrongful act and the fact that he found his way onto our city council is even more dark in nature.

Download. Use “Pearl” as a keyword search. Or go to pages: 9, 16, 18, 19, 31, 32, 38 & 46 to find comments. You can see that Mr. Pearl is on the California Housing Consortium and should have never made it onto our city board. Yes, he was elected, but did he disclose his position, affiliations and his plan to come in and re-design Westlake Village to be an urbanized high density living & building area?  It is a sad statement that we have to search and find documents – and legal documents that can be difficult to read and understand which allows the authors to hide or paint their projects to be heroic when it’s just legacy building for themselves at the cost of tax-paying citizens they never consult in the first place. They plan and then go forth deciding that doing and apologizing later is the format all should comply to.
